This morning, I was opening documents to work on something else when this blind-sided me and in quite a stern voice demanded to be written. It's a bit creepy but inspired by an actual picture I looked at this morning and I noticed something interesting...



THE MARK OF CONNECTION

I never knew how or why it started but there was some kind of link. I felt it the moment I saw the picture. It became something I had to know, had to find out as much about that person as possible. Little glimpses, little impressions. There was something in the eyes. Distant. Removed. Body present, mind waiting somewhere just out of reach, protected and guarded.

Then the dreams started. I didn’t want them but they came. I somehow got the feeling at one point that he started to know someone was there watching, trying to catch a glimpse.

Silken Warfare

There were certain advantages, Ezra Standish thought with great amusement, to having captured a wild creature as a lover. Unpredictability was one of them and had the odd ability to excite Ezra who generally liked to leave nothing to chance. He seemed to have discovered that trait in spades with Vin Tanner. It was starting to irk Jerry Morgan that the cute brunette over at the corner table kept looking right through him. That bitch couldn’t do that to him, ignore him like he was shit. He didn’t care that she seemed to be there with a bunch of dudes. Some of them were old, one of them was a short little pussy, and at least one of them was a fag with his expensive clothes, manicured nails, and man-scaped brows.

The guys finally ribbed him enough that he decided to make his move when she walked past him, on the way to the ladies’ room he guessed. Grinning, he stepped into her path.

“Buy you a drink, sweetheart?” He said it nice enough, his hand on her shoulder.

She looked up at him and, in a low voice, ordered, “Get your greasy hands off me.”

This is Smokey Banks, bullrider, played by Michael Biehn in The Ride. In my quest to find out if Chris Larabee in the Magnificent Seven series episode "Obsession" had a mark on his chest that was to indicate some old wound he had or just happened to be there, I looked at this particular character's chest. It is important to note that Smokey is wearing nothing but cowboy boots, a towel, his hat, some drops of water, and a puzzled expression. Just thought I'd share. :D

This is a Chris/Vin birthday fic for farad. Hope you had a Happy Birthday! :D

CAPTIVE AUDIENCE

It had kicked off late last night and then carried on into that morning with breakfast in bed and an early workout which had involved a lot of hands-on interaction not usually part of his solitary morning routine. A man could get used to having such an invigorating workout “partner“ around all the time but, to be honest, during the past few years, Chris Larabee had found it easy to forget his birthday aside from Buck taking him out for a shot or two after work. He had a feeling that forgetting birthdays was now a thing of the past. Apparently, day-long celebratory birthdays were a sort of tradition for Vin’s family. Frankly, it had surprised Chris to learn that because he thought of Ko-Je, Jonah-eh, and Chanu as serious, maybe even solemn men. When he’d mentioned that, Vin had looked very puzzled, cocked his head, and asked, “Where’d you get that idea?” After that, Chris guessed that they must just take some warming up to, kind of like himself.

The newness of their sexual relationship sometimes gave him pause in the middle of their work as colleagues and worried him for the future of their friendship which he didn‘t want to lose. Today, however, he decided to be unconcerned over possible problems which might or might not crop up in the future.

Which brought his ponderings back to what Vin had jokingly called his “birthday eve celebration” which broke the weekend-only-stay-overnight rule and had happily put a naked Vin in his bed on a Wednesday evening. Beat the hell out of watching the news with the tv on the sleep timer. It had been…special…in a way that had felt just a little naughty. He smiled at the memory.

I'm a little surprised at how high I scored on these and I wasn't aware how dumb, dorky, and awkward I really am. And here I thought I was just a shy writing nerd. LOL!

“You’re all right!” A glowing grin in the semi-dark room…

Angry, Sam pulled his brother onto his lap, checking for injuries besides the bleeding wound high on his chest.

“Goddamn it, Dean. I’m not that timid little kid anymore. I’m a man.”

A smile lit Dean’s face as his eyes began to drift shut. “I did it,” he murmured.

Sam looked into his brother’s pale face, worried at his fading out from the blood loss. “Dean!”

“I did it. Got you there alive. A man.” His eyes shut completely, his voice fading. “A man. Yeah. Awesome. I really did it.”

CURSED BY THE CURSOR

It flashed at him. Over and over. Taunting. Smirking it's flatline attitude at him. Blink. Blink. You’re a fucking failure. Writer? I spit at your writing you flunkie! Staccato blinks.

Was it…was it changing? Did it just blink faster?

Was that…Morse code?

He stared at it.

A pattern. Goddamnit. It WAS a pattern.

DADDYS' GIRLS

“I just can’t believe you’ve done this, Dory. What were you thinking? And Taylor. I thought I could trust that boy. I’ve a mind to…” Buck mimed a strangling motion.

“Daddy. That’s not accomplishing anything.” Pushing her long, blond hair backwards over her shoulder, Eudora Wilmington sighed. “You’ve had plenty of time to get used to this. The baby is due in January. It’s almost Christmas and you still haven’t fulfilled your promise.”

Even though it pained him more than he could put into words that his daughter had become one of those embarrassing statistics: a pregnant teenager, as his own mother had been. Sometimes he really did want to throttle Taylor Premont for this even though he knew that Dory was obviously an equal partner in this. All the lectures on responsibility and safe sex had failed. HE had failed.

Unfortunately for his fantasies of beating Taylor to within an inch of his life for doing this to his little girl, he actually liked the boy.

“I’m not sure I should have promised you this, honey.”

“Too late.”

Then she had to go melt his heart again and hug him. “I love you, Daddy. You’re the most wonderful man in the whole world and I know you can do this. I trust you completely.”

A soft kiss on his cheek and then off she flitted, light on her feet and still athletic in spite of her advanced pregnancy. His little girl had unexpectedly become a woman but this was way too early. He wasn’t ready for any of this.

I was on my way to the library today (since my daughter had asked me to pick up the Transformers movie the next time I went to the library) when I got hit by an M7 vision. Josiah. Chris. The serape.

Since I'd forgotten my audio recorder thingy because I'd put it in a compartment of my car then forget it was there, the batteries in it had run down so I made the next turn to go get a notebook or something to write in whenever I'm out and don't have my laptop. I walked around and around the store for a long time unsuccessfully looking for notebooks until I finally asked someone.

I didn't like the notebooks so journals were there on the next aisle. They had cute little pocket-sized ones. The first one I picked up was black leather. Nice. I was wearing black jeans, a black camaro tee-shirt, a black hoodie, and a black corduroy shirt. It matched! And it reminded me of Chris.

Then I saw the Buckskin-colored suede one. I wanted the Vin one! :D

There were three of those. I looked them over and picked one. Then I went to find a pen. They had a pack that had two regular sized pens which came with a free small one. That mini pen was the perfect size! (JD sized?)

I was half-way up to the front and the registers when something stopped me. Feeling like I was doing the wrong thing, I looked down at the little journal in my hand. In that aisle's light, I saw a little imperfection at the bottom of the front cover. I went to change it for the other one but I suddenly had to have the black one.

So I picked Chris over Vin. 0.0

How'd that happen? :D

THE AMBUSH

It was hot as hell. Logically, that had to mean it was hell. Vin Tanner squinted up at the blazing sun. “Yup. It’s Hell.”

Beside him, Nathan Jackson, their med tech laughed. “You say that every day as if it’s going to change and suddenly snow and a sleigh is going to pull up to take you to the North Pole.”

Vin laughed too. “Fella can hope, can’t he? North Pole‘s about the only place I ain‘t never been.”

“I believe a sign over the gateway to hell says to abandon all hope,” grinned Josiah Sanchez.

“Didn’t see that sign when I got off the plane.” Vin bent his attention back to the gun he was cleaning.

“They hide it when covert ops teams swing through. Helps us keep our cover.”
